According to figures released by Lloyd’s of London, the insurable value of all the players at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil is £6.2bn.
Germany has the most expensive squad with an insurable value of £641m followed by Spain at £590m and England at £550m. The value of the top 3 squads exceeds £1.7bn which is more than the bottom 20 teams combined.
The most expensive group is Group G – Germany, Portugal, Ghana & USA – the group value is £1.19bn.
Group D (in which England are competing) is the third most expensive group with an insurable value of £909m.
