The household appliance manufacturer Whirlpool have issued a recall. Some of their tumble dryers have a potential safety issue concerning the build-up of lint which may lead to overheating.
Many machines in the UK (over 1.7 million) have been checked out by Whirlpool, but others still might have the problem. The trouble is, while ‘Whirlpool’ is the manufacturer, the tumble dryers in question are sold under their Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Swan, and Proline brands. Appliances under the Whirlpool brand are not affected.
The good news is there’s an easy way to find out if your tumble dryer needs to be recalled – click here to check the Whirlpool website.
If your tumble dryer is affected, you’ll get the choice either to have it replaced free of charge, to opt for an upgrade from £59, to have it fixed by an engineer or to choose a refund, which will be dependent on the age of your tumble dryer.
In the meantime, please unplug and do not use the tumble dryer until it has been replaced or modified.
